Peach Blossom Pillow

Share Article

I bundled up and set out with my camera gear just after sunrise with one thing on my mind: peach blossoms! I’d been watching Aunt Pearl’s tree for days as it transformed into a pastel cloud, and I knew the little flowers would be at their peak.

Those ethereal gowns of soft pink and white held tight to the branches with their green and maroon sashes are among my favorite proclamations of SPRING.

But, as is often the case when I head out to take pictures of one thing, I was quite surprised by something else entirely.  That morning, God’s surprise was a tiny bee tucked into the center of one of the blossoms.  He was immobile with the cold and sparkling with dew. His delicacy and beauty took my breath for a moment and returned it with a rush of thanks and praise.

Thank You, Lord, for the gift of such beauty. Thank You for reminding us that You who command the workings of the entire universe also create delicate peach blossom pillows where tiny honey bees can sleep under a blanket of dew until the sun warms them and their work can begin for the day.

Lord, help us to see, really see, at least one such loving, lovely detail in the gift of our lives today, and help us to thank You for Your Hand in it. Amen

Lord, you have made so many things! How wise you were when you made all of them! The earth is full of your creatures. Psalm 104:24 (NIRV)

  1. Beautiful!
I love to see the new spring blossoms in everything surrounding us! The trees, flowers, the emerging grasses, and the colors that will be with us until fall.
    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thank you, Linda!

I’m glad you mentioned the “emerging grasses.” Not only are the many shades of green amazing, but so are the seeds as they develop in the tall field and ornamental grasses.

      Take care!

  2. I love the story you tell! Your pictures are outstanding, but the way you describe it delights me. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Oh…thank you, Paulette! I’m so glad my delight is coming through!

My words are just a thank-You note to God. It’s a gift to be able to look for His beauty. It’s another of His gifts to find beauty. And, it’s so much fun to be able to share and say, “Look what He did here! Isn’t it wonderful?!”

      Take care!
